Lunar New Year celebration returns to Park Slope’s Seventh Avenue


PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A Lunar New Year celebration returns to Seventh Avenue next week.

The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music has scheduled its annual outdoor Lunar New Year event for next Saturday, bringing Cantonese storytime, a lion dance and Chinese music to its garden and the block surrounding its brownstone from the Seventh Ave.

The event, free to the public, will begin at 2 p.m. and mark the Year of the Tiger.

Here’s what you need to know:

WHEN: Saturday, January 29 at 2 p.m.

WHERE: Te BKCM Garden and the surrounding block of the building. The conservatory is working to broadcast the event due to high interest, according to its website.

WHAT: The afternoon will include traditional and contemporary Chinese music, a lion dance, crafts, calligraphy and more.
